Points are allocated from the 5km
handicap races as follows:
4 points for 1st Place
(if running off official handicap);
3 points for
2nd Place (if running off official handicap);
2 points for
3rd Place (if running off official handicap);
1 point for everyone else who starts irrespective of finish place;
1 point if running on a provisional handicap, or starting earlier than their official
handicap time;
1 point for any runner who does not
finish;
4 points for the timekeeper who does not
run (or 1 point if the timekeeper is a 5km runner).
Depending on the
number of 5km runners, this may be adjusted during 2013.
The 5km handicap event is separate to
the 10km handicap - points from the 5km handicap do not count towards
the 10km handicap (and vice versa).
Results from the best 8 (out of maximum 10) races are counted towards determining the annual Handicap Champion and Runner-Up.
The winner
of the annual handicap must have run in at least 5 events, so as to
reward participation.
If scores are tied at the end of the year, then the person with the most handicap wins will be the
winner.
If scores are still tied, the person who attended the most races will be the winner.
If scores are still tied, the person who has shown the most improvement over the year will be the winner.
If, by chance, we still can’t separate the first
and second, the person with the most 2nd places, then the
most 3rd places, etc will be declared the winner.
The 5 km handicap will
be separate to the 10km handicap - there will be separate champions for
each distance.
